Surabhi is a talented dancer of the Indian classical dance form Katthak”.  At a very early age, she started learning Katthak from her guru, Mrs. Rossana Bandhyopadhyay, and has been classically trained in the Lucknow Gharana style for twelve years. She also had the privilege of learning from maestro Guru Bandana Sen.

Surabhi has been very passionate about dancing since early childhood, presenting her first stage performance when she was only three years old. Since then, in her nonstop dance journey, she has participated in numerous competitions and won several awards for her performances. Surabhi is a co-founder of OSU Sahana, the first Indian classical dance team at The Ohio State University. She hopes to spread her love for Katthak amongst her friends and peers at OSU. Surabhi is also very proficient in Bollywood style contemporary dances and had the opportunity to explore her creative side as the choreographer of her dance team at OSU.

Surabhi is studying biochemistry and minoring in both Spanish and epidemiology at The Ohio State University. She hopes to pursue her passion for medicine and love for children in the future as a pediatric physician while also opening free clinics, especially in India, in order to make a positive impact on the fight against female infanticide.
